New Paragraph
Congratulations on your decision to get a new puppy! It is an exciting time when you decide to bring a new puppy home, whether you are a first-time puppy owner or bringing a puppy home after long intervals. Preparing for a new puppy is the same as preparing for the arrival of a human baby. Our goal is to give you some helpful information and recommendations that we have learned over the years to make life with your new fur baby happy, healthy and a complete success.
This list is everything you will need to start out with when welcoming a new puppy into your home.
1. The Art of Raising a Puppy is an awesome book all about puppy care.
2. Crate, the correct size is a must. Is a useful device for raising a puppy, and perhaps one of the most misunderstood, the fold-up wire crate. Properly used, this device can aid in potty training. The puppy only needs enough room to turn around in and stretch out in. Anymore they may eliminate in it. We recommend setting it up in your bedroom so your new puppy is not alone.
3. Crate Pad for inside the crate. Washable one is recommended.
4. Expen- puppy playpen so the puppy has its own safe space to play and not free range of your home until the puppy is totally potty trained. It also gives you a real break and you can be truly relaxed without worrying about your beloved pup.
5. Puppy Pads for inside the expen.
6. Puppy food, make sure their food is formulated for that size breed, is your pup going to be a small, medium or large breed. Different breeds require different protein, calcium, fat etc.
7. Stainless steel food container to keep their food fresh as possible.
8. Bowls, water and food, we recommend stainless steel. Adjustable are a good choice as your pup grows, they can be raised. Wash bowls daily.
9. Training Treats that are small and moist. Just a little something for a reward.
10. Brush, grooming is an important step in caring for your puppy and is usually a one-time investment. Brushing is a good way to inspect their skin, coat, ears, pads and teeth.
11. Nail clipper and start asap so that your puppy will get used to it.
12. Puppy Shampoo that is gentle on their skin
13. Urine and Odor remover spray for those tiny potty accidents.
14. A collar & 6-foot leash, lightweight & fits comfortably but securely. A leash will give you better control of your new pup when teaching basic commands.
15. ID Tags are a must.
16. Poop Bags & Dispenser for easy clean up.
17. Chill & Chew Toy that is non-toxic that you can pop in the freezer to give your pup a chilled, soothing chew, especially helpful for teething pups.
18. Chew Bone that is non-toxic for that teething puppy
19. Soft Toy which will help, so they don’t go for your hands.
20. Bully Sticks are a life saver. All bones & toys should be supervised & inspected daily.
21. Snuggle Puppy can help with anxiety AND aid in comfort, especially during their transition to their new home. Reducing barking, whining and anxiety, helping both YOU and your Pup sleep at night!
I hope this information has been helpful and also helps make life with your new puppy happy, healthy and a complete success. Congratulations!
